Golden Orbs

My new project is underway. The Golden Orbs are representative of the computing power of old. Dual overclocked Celeron processors on an Abit BP6 motherboard (legendary in the overclocking world). The Golden Orbs will be powering a lightweight Linux OS (still undecided), loaded with only media functionality.

  1. Looks cool but I dont understand the wind turbines? Just how much powah does this thing put out? Maybe all chipsets have heatsinks like this these days, I guess I wouldnt know. Keep it coming ace. You should talk to oliver about the mystery linux, he switches that stuff as often as a pair of pants. I remember when mandrake was the shit, then red hat was the new shit, then ubuntu? hes probably on zabumafoo or michaeljaxon 2.7.9 by now. ;)

  2. Not a whole lot of power unfortunately. This setup is fairly old. The heatsinks are pretty much necessary to dissipate the heat, when overclocking. Turning up the clock speed and voltage will almost always raise the temperature of the CPU, sometimes by 20+ degrees. Any new computer available nowadays is more powerful than this, but a dual-celeron motherboard is rare, and for the most part just provides geek cred.
